You have your first appointment in the cancer center. You want to hide in the parking garage, but somehow courage flows, and you walk right in, determined. You are tested, consulted with and biopsied some more. The American Cancer Society calls your house. Your emotions ebb and flow.
You know you'll be fine. You've seen legions of women walk this journey and earn the pink survivor t-shirt. Fear is greedy though, and it lurks obstinately nearby. Your brain knows this too shall pass, but your mom cries and your friends call you a warrior and refer to a battle. You trust God fully, but you long to go back to a time just three weeks ago when things were altogether different and fighting terms weren't applicable.
It's been a weird few weeks, people. There are a thousand words swirling. We are in the thick of processing, but every day we put on our brave pants (and/or socks) and step forward.
........................................................
Friends, you have lavished us already with a flood of words, gifts and prayers and it feels too extravagant. Much too extravagant from the same people who helped us scale the mountain to get Eli and Evie home just two years ago, and then followed that up with care right up to now for all of Evelyn's surgeries and hospital stays. Through you, the Lord has shown us His extravagant, need meeting, lavish love over and over again, even when it seems like we are well past our quota.
Thank you for praying and texting and messaging. Extra grace is needed if we haven't replied or if we've kept you out of the loop. We want you to know how to pray and when to celebrate, we've just waffled about the how, who and why. The powers that be set a Caring-Bridge page up for us, but it just doesn't feel right. Part of me wants to tell everybody so you can watch God show off and the other part wants to shrink back and pretend we never told anyone.
We've decided that we'll share general updates here, so if you want to know how to pray, this will be headquarters for the girl fight. It's easier to share all at once, all in one place.
The deal-e-o is that I just finished more testing and await results. We are consulting with specialists, and it looks like my first surgery will be in 2-3 weeks.
Prayer Requests:
1. For my latest biopsy to return with the word benign stamped on it.
2. For clarity in decision-making.
3. For energy and rest.
4. For the steadying of emotions.
5. For every last bit of this to count for good.
Victories:
1. My faith might be big, but my Bible has had a thick blanket of dust on it, so I asked for a new one for Christmas. These past three weeks, when so many of you started sharing encouraging Bible verses, I've pulled out the pink highlighter and added your names beside the offered scripture. Now, my new Bible is covered in pink and it feels like this Book holds new life.

Two BIG wins for the home team, I'd say. Take that, cancer.
Courage, dear heart.
*Lastly, anybody out there putting off getting a mammogram? Might be time to make the appointment. Just saying.

Hugs and hope from the other side of town. Know that if you need anything just give me a call. I have most mornings free and would be happy to come over and watch your gang if you need to take a nap or whatever it might be.
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10
Mammogram - YES
You got this Rebecca.....day by day - issue by issue - one thing at a time. Don't get ahead of yourself and don't worry until its time to worry.
Blessings from a pink survivor shirt wearer....Kelly
Your post is beautifully written. Our prayers are with you, my long time friend. Please mark this moment on as a freebie pass where no second is spent worrying about thank you notes for any act of kindness we feel led to commit! We would rather you have time to rest or snuggle with your sweet family. We love you and pray each day for health and healing. Amen!
Your words are so encouraging, Rebecca! And certainly, God will use this for His glory. Isa 41:13.
Will keep you in my prayers.
It is really hard for a parent to come to grips with our baby daughter getting this diagnosis. We are afraid to but comforted with your courage and circle of friends. We pray constantly and know that you will be a survivor! We will always be here for you and love you so much

Hi Rebecca, you don't know me and I only know you from your numerous photos from Marks Facebook page. One thing I do know and can tell by his posts and photos is how much he adores you. I went to college with Mark in Alfred, and it makes me so happy to see a friend living and loving life. When he posted you had breast cancer my heart and prayers were with you. My close cousin battled the disease for 4 long years and the thing that kept her going was her strength, will to live and the drive to never give up. So fight, don't let it take you down and know many friends, family and even people that don't know you well are beside you praying and pulling for your whole family. Much love from your NY friends!
Valerie(Case)Daciw and Family.
This momma is standing with you and proud and honored to do so.
We speak LIFE over you and your household. He will be honored and glorfied in this journey!
Praying with you and for you, friend. Thank you for sharing your journey with us, and allowing us to walk alongside you (if only virtually!) your testimony to His faithfulness is an incredibly beautiful thing <3
