Summertime Spelunking

 photo DSC_0104_zps149ce75a.jpg
We have surrendered completely to summer.  To wet pig tails, muddy toes and creak side afternoons.

We know to fully open our selves to the sunny season when we see this sign.  Cave Springs is always on our summer bucket list.

We make our annual June pilgrimage to fill cups and water bottles with spring water, fatten up the ducks, picnic, and hit the creek.

This is a crew familiar with spelunking.  With headlamps lighting the way, they bravely explore dark tunnels and get lost under stalactites.

After finding our way back into the light, we respond to the call of the creak.

There is no plan. No goal other than just being.

There is just nothing like it.

Caving with Littles, Take II

Photobucket
Summer tradition always takes us to Cave Springs a couple times a year,
this time we day tripped with our supper club peeps.
The (getting noticeably BIG) kids had a blast feeding fish and ducks,
Photobucket
before embarking on a journey deep within a dark cave.
Photobucket
Armed with flashlights and a sense of adventure,
we spelunk with great bravery.

Afterward, we do some good, old school, summer's hot creakin'. Photobucket

A Family of Spelunkers

Photobucket
Our team is not afraid to explore.
Find us a cave, and we'll gather our
princess flashlights and spelunk it.
(Wait, can one "spelunk"? Or, must one "go spelunking"?)

Photobucket
Memorial Day this year found us in a tiny,
one stop-light town exploring a cave ($1 admission!),
Photobucket
feeding ducks,
Photobucket
hanging with some of our besties,
Photobucket
hiking on steep terrain,
Photobucket
swinging and chilling,
Photobucket
creaking,
Photobucket
drinking from a natural spring and soaking up some outdoor fun.
(We even ran into Ashley, a blog friend/adoptive momma, who had read about the cave on our blog!  We promised her that we only visit the cave a couple times a year!)
Photobucket
The day topper?  Ending it all by letting our littles stick their heads into the old school freezer and pull out a dollar ice cream.

Sweetness I tell ya.
