Made New by Motherhood

Photobucket
Motherhood has made me new.  Life was sweet before children.  Mark and I travelled, had all kinds of adventure, and loved well.

Motherhood though has opened up something new inside me.  Something that was only multiplied with the addition of Claire.  I don't live life in the same way, or want the same things.  Everything has been made new.  I have new eyes.  New plans. New creativity.  New gratitude.

As we wandered through the woods this Mother's Day, I was reminded that God has done a good, good work in both Mark and I through parenthood.  It is a refining.  How He must love us to have given us two such gifts.

This parenthood gig ain't easy, but it is good.

The hubs is a new man too.  Deeper.  Stronger.  More humble.  Photobucket
As our two daughters ran and played, I felt blessed to be their momma.    The little one imitating every move of the bigger.  Each learning from the other.  Each one unique.  Each with a story.  Me learning from them.

They are sisters and I am their momma. Blessed am I!

Thank you my sweet girls for making this momma better.
Thank you, Mark, for the best Mother's Day yet.

Lunch with My Girl

Photobucket
I have a daughter, and I have a friend.  Days keep passing by.  Each day she's grown a bit more.  Lucky for me, I can hold her still.   I can listen as she tells me every tiny but important thought that flows through her mind.  Listen as she sings a continuous song.  Listen as she endlessly makes up a world all her own.  Listen as she tells me weeks ago that she was making a special SECRET surprise for me at school.     Watch as she helps host a lunch for mommies.

Her cards and her gifts are handmade, and her eyes grow big with excitement as she shares them.

As she grows in wisdom, in faith and in wonder, I am in awe of her. A little person such a part of me, carrying around a big chunk of my heart.  Yet still, she is her own person.  Making her own friends and her own memories.

This fleeting season is wild and precious.  Magical and tiring.  Silly and fun.  Photobucket
This is the stuff that mommyhood is made of.
