A-MAZE-ing Fall Traditions

 photo collage2_zps043cad1b.jpg
Decision made.  Our yearly corn maze tradition has been moved to evening.  Every year coordinating dates is oh so complicated with busy schedules, so we ended up there at night.  Extra glad we did.  We got there in the late afternoon, just in time to do some pillow jumping

and pumpkin admiring.

When bellies started growling, we unfolded blankets and unzipped coolers for a picnic beside the cornfield.

It is funny how you pay admission to all these cool places and the littles end up having the most fun in an open field.

The stolen corn may have something to do with it.

This year was extra special.
Nighttime romping through the maize maze proved to be incredibly fun.

As always, our little one found animals to love on.  Just call her the goat whisper, as she spent her evening feeding munchies to farm animals through a fence.

When she wasn't plowing through kernels, of course.

And this year's highlight?  Taking a hayride out to an open field full of bonfires.

Now THAT was the stuff of memories.  Our own pile of sticks to keep the fire blazing, roasting marshmallows and sipping cocoa all while telling "pooky" stories.

Corny Fun

Photobucket
Wandering through a corn maze is another of our autumn traditions.
We've done it for years with this same group of pals,
and never does the maze disappoint.

With great bravado we entered the maze,
certain we had mastered the corn years before.
Truth be told,
there were lots of turn-arounds, puzzled expressions,
and scratching of our noggins before we wandered weary out the exit.

The littles loved every minute of the fall goodness,
and we lingered late into the afternoon.

Learning for Littles: A Cornucopia of Fun

A couple kernels of info about what we've been up to...
Photobucket
It seems as though I love a theme.
One of the things I love about homeschooling,
is that we can base our learning around an experience or "field trip".
Knowing that we were headed to the corn maze, I jumped on the corn theme after seeing the idea on Little Wonders' Days.

So, we husked some corn, and got to work reading books like
Anna's Corn, (crazy sweet and sad).

Why just read about corn when you can paint with it,
Photobucket
and recreate it with bubble wrap?

Our artwork became ears of corn that we made into Thanksgiving cards.
