Quackers

I love little people.

Love teaching them about the past.

Love giving them the gift of an afternoon in nature.
Love to see them be brave.

Love to see them experience the simple, magical moments in life.

Love to see their blooming personalities.
One wise, ultra responsible, silly, tender hearted and timid.
One easy going, fearless, obedient, gentle, and joyful.

Love that one happily and endlessly follows the leader.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.  ~Douglas Adams

Wait.  Or were they geese?  Think they both quack.

"They Love Me"

 photo DSC_0094_zpsa039585b.jpg
After our Mamaw, "the sun that our family revolved around" passed away,
one of the concerns was seeing the family that had teamed up to care for her for years.  So, for mom's birthday, we thought it fitting to gather her big family for a little cookout.

It was sweet and quite comforting to hang out with these generous, kind-hearted folks.  It poured the rain, so we sat inside, told old stories and laughed at the performances of Madeline, Sophia and Claire.

After they left, my tender-hearted mom, turned around with misty eyes and said, "They love me."
Just the right words for time spent with those who walked a journey together, and who now are navigating this next chapter.

4 Thumbs Up for Snake Hollow

Photobucket

Never do we go to KY without a stop at Bernheim Research Forest.
iWe hike, we meander through the gift shop and we check out tanks filled with interesting animals.

When we eased into our parking spot this time, our eyes grew big at the sight of something new and very different.  Just outside the already notable visitor center was a stick maze.  That's right...as in a place to run and get lost in...made of tree branches...as in
a-MAZE-ing!

Artist Patrick Dougherty created this masterpiece, naming it, "Snake Hollow".

And impressed we were.

The passageways, doors and windows had major wow factor.

Claire couldn't be bothered to stop for the likes of a photo.

Sophia on the hand, happily posed when asked, desiring to show off the bling worn just for the occasion.

Most of the time, we only saw flashes of color rushing by.
No worries, we never had to fear losing the littles.  Their squeals could be heard for miles.

Nature+art+family+travel+exercise.
4 thumbs up.
