4:30 AM

It is 4:30 AM, and I can't sleep. My stomach is in knots. Yes, I am anxious that I get to see Mark tomorrow. But, that isn't it. In this moment, my heart is burdened and my stomach is churning.

Not every soldier has come home. Many soldiers haven't returned to the waiting arms of their families. Many families got only folded flags and dog tags. I feel deep guilt for using a video (in the post below) made in honor of a fallen soldier in a first post about my husband coming home. Can I experience this great joy, and not also feel a burden? I don't think I should.

Please watch this video and be sad. Give a minute of your time, and a tiny chunk of your heart, to the fallen soldiers. This war can seem unreal-like nothing more than a regular blip on the news. It is important that we remember their sacrifice.

My stomach is in knots. Maybe God woke me up so I would send up a few prayers.

My heart goes out to their mothers, their wives, the children who will never know their daddies....

I will pray for them also.

AND, rejoice with you today!!

Thanks for sharing this. I have played the song many times, always dreadfully, knowing Mark was over there. All Americans should get away from playing politics when thinking about our soldiers. They go where they are sent, without question, and do their very best. To tie them to the question of whether any war is right or wrong is a disservice to them and what they stand for. My heart and prayers are always with the soldiers regardless! Thank God Mark is coming home safely however I am very proud of my daughter for also thinking about those who did not and unfortunatley will not ever come home.
I love you and we are so happy and releaved that he is on US soil and will be home very soon. We will never forget those however who remain and will go in the future.
Love You
Dad

You along with many others who's hubby, sons and fathers have felt exactly as you are feeling right now I am sure. Being happy about Mark getting home does not do a disservice to those who didn't make it - those guys died so that guys like Mark could make it home safely. I imagine they'd want you to be happy. That being said, we do remember them and their families today, and appreciate what they have done for us.

My last comment made no sense b/c I left out part. What I meant to say was that I am sure many many people who are related to returning soldiers feel the same way you do.

My heart, prayers and thoughts are with our soldiers and their families daily. I am so thankful for their courage, honor, and selflessness; for their service to the rest of us. Thank you for your sacrifice, for giving of your family freely, so that we can all be covered by the blanket we call freedom. Mark, thanks for your proetection, service, and the shining example you have set for the rest of us. God bless...
