I have a daughter, and I have a friend. Days keep passing by. Each day she's grown a bit more. Lucky for me, I can hold her still. I can listen as she tells me every tiny but important thought that flows through her mind. Listen as she sings a continuous song. Listen as she endlessly makes up a world all her own. Listen as she tells me weeks ago that she was making a special SECRET surprise for me at school. Watch as she helps host a lunch for mommies.
Her cards and her gifts are handmade, and her eyes grow big with excitement as she shares them.

As she grows in wisdom, in faith and in wonder, I am in awe of her. A little person such a part of me, carrying around a big chunk of my heart. Yet still, she is her own person. Making her own friends and her own memories.

This fleeting season is wild and precious. Magical and tiring. Silly and fun.

This is the stuff that mommyhood is made of.

WOW! I remember SO well when Savannah was that age~ exact same hair. :) I did all the things you are doing and can I say fleeting is SO true. She did grow to be my BFF but nothing prepared me for what I have felt for the last two days. Tears haven't really stopped but that's what love is... our heart walking around outside our body. Cherish EVERY second Rebecca~ it goes oh so quickly!!!
Blessings and love!
Ah, you make me cry! It is fleeting, this moment in the sun with the little ones.... things change moment by moment, but the thing that never changes is that feeling of your heart walkind around outside of your body. I watch Madeline jump out of my car and run into school, no longer needing me to hold her hand, and wonder what the day will bring for her. Such a wonderful, beautiful, painful thing Motherhood is!
