Another morning in the garden? Yes, please.
Last month we planted a tree, this month we released ladybugs!
Our little naturalist was giddy with excitement.
After all, how often does one witness the release of 4,000 ladybugs?
Once set free, they landed among the flowers and the vines.
Magnifying glasses revealed tiny smiles.
Apparently, they were quite pleased with their new surroundings.
Before totally taking flight into the smorgasbord that
was to be the garden, they hung out for a bit.
Willing to climb on our hands and magnifying glasses.
And as they crawled away, we said our goodbyes. Wishing them well.
Afterward, as we strolled through the garden once again, we stopped occasionally to think about our little friends. More in awe of all that a garden is.
Back at home, we dug into two of our favorite books about gardens!
Ladybugs all dressed in red
Strolling through the flowerbed.
If I were tiny just like you
I'd creep among the flowers too!

Ladybugs are very special at our house too. Darling pics. We finally had a dry day and spent most of it outside planting. Bring on the summer weather and more dry days!!
we released a bunch of ladybugs at Indigo's last birthday party. lots of fun!
we've had a jag of 100 degree days + are under water restrictions so we haven't spent too much time in the garden as of late, other than a little hand watering. the summers are hard for gardening here. we are doing a CSA and hoping for the best with our own little garden.
What a neat story and pictures! Glad Sophia is able to participate in this project.
How cute! Glad to know there is another nature buddy out there.
Wonderful pictures!
I don't think we need to raise any ladybugs - we already seem to attract plenty without doing anything!
Madeline caught a ladybug on her arm on Saturday, and had her nails polished like ladybugs Sunday... kind of funny :-)
