Semi-Chinese Kind of New Year

We've been all decked out for CNY here at our casa.  Chinese-American style.  We read that in some parts of China, families decorate kumquat trees with red envelopes.  Without hopes of finding a kumquat tree, and after seeing this blog, we went with a table top Christmas tree.  We decorated it with mementos from our trip, red envelopes and our Chinese holiday ornaments.

Next, we had a little cutting and stamping fun making lanterns to hang over our kitchen table.

We've also been doing a little fun reading.
Our family got Claire a big list of Chinese pictures books for Christmas, and then Papaw ordered a few for us just for CNY.  The girls are LOVING them!
