The weather here has been hot. Crazy hot. So, what did we do? We went camping. The official start of summer had to be honored. We loaded our swagger wagon with camping gear and headed to the "quiet forest".
We were well prepared with all the necessary gear. Tent, sleeping bags, marshmallows, swimsuits and bug collection gear.
Soaking us some nature quiets our brains and soothes our souls. Of course, the occasional super fast speed boat and skier whizzing by was quite entertaining as well.
After roasting some hot dogs and exploring, we decided to cool off with a dip in the cool lake.
This was the stuff of memories.
And when the day was done, we held on to our little toddler as she gasped in awe at the beauty of the sunset. Toddlers really get it, don't they? Why is it that we rarely truly experience the simple beauty of the setting of the sun?
And the fact that you can see the moon rising in the other direction?
A wonder within a wonder.
After a long day of exploring and swimming, our girl settled into her daddy's lap to hear some good stories.
Woken up by the sounds of birds chirping, we spent the next morning cooking up breakfast burritos, collecting bugs, watching squirrels, discovering patches of soft moss, and climbing rocks.

Before heading home, we hit the beach for some swimming and picnicking.

Good times. The simplest and purest of good times.

What a wonderful family outing!!! You are such a great mom to go tent camping with your family... won't happen for our family. I would have to be in a high end RV to go camping. :) Loved all the things you all did... and especially loved dad and daughter story time.
Blessings!

I LOVE the camping photos! The scenery is breathtaking..... how fun to have these special moments with Sophie before she becomes a BIG sister in person. I'll bet this weekend will be one that you'll remember and treasure ALWAYS. You are so wise to make these special moments happen for you and your sweet girl.
