"For the Kids"

One of things closest to our hearts as parents is teaching our daughters to serve and love others.  Our goal is that someday they will put the needs of others AHEAD of their own.  The challenge?  Finding projects that work for little hands and squirmy bodies.

Packing lunches for kids (who might not get lunch with school being out for the summer) was the perfect service project.  So, last night, we invited over some of our BFFs and packed away!

Each bag was hand decorated by a troop of toddlers.  When asked who the bags were for, they kept saying "for the kids".  They got it. (They kept throwing in, "for kids in Africa", but on their own little level, they got it.)

Angela was the master baker.

Laura was the master packer.

The girls?  Understanding the importance of our project, dressed for the occasion!

When we dropped off these bags, the volunteers told us that they are significantly short this summer.  So, local pals, who is in?  We'd love to do this a few more times, and we'd love to pass along the information to others willing to make some lunches.  (Don't let cost stop you. They were a mere $1.00 per bag, and you can do any number of them that you are able.)

Wow, this is PERFECT! The only way your children will ever know how to be compassionate and giving is to see their parents in action and you are such a shining example!
