REMEMBERING OUR VETERANS

"To Be a Veteran One Must Know and Determine One's Price for Freedom" I saw this quote on a Veteran's Day poster last June while deployed in Baghdad, Iraq. Needless to say, it struck me and I immediately wrote it into my "smart book". As I was doing some research earlier today, the quote turned up again and I wanted to share it.
Today, Veteran's Day, is a day that we Americans should take some time to remember those who have served and our still serving our great country; from our fight for independence to our present day operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the many other theaters of operation that none of us hear about - but that do exist. Much blood has been shed by courageous and selfless American men and women so that my family, your family, and this country can continue to live freely.
And on this Veteran's Day 2009, let us not forget the 12 Soldiers and 1 Civilian who paid the ultimate sacrifice in Fort Hood, Texas as many were preparing to deploy to combat. Our heart goes out to the families of these great Americans, who gave everything for their country. Let us not forget either the Soldiers and civilians that were injured coming to aid their fellow Americans in need.
So today, as you sit around your dinner table, tuck your little ones into bed and lay your head down on your pillow; say a prayer for our Service Members; past and present. Their mission is tough but their will is strong. We are grateful, we are proud, we are blessed.
Thanks to all our Great American Heroes - God Bless each and every one.
