Lessons from the Garden

Toddlers really know how to live. This week's mommy/daughter day at the botanical gardens was a reminder to:
Take it all in.
Skip.
Investigate.
Climb. Play.
Linger. Who cares what might be ahead?
Giggle. Get wet.
Be a goofball.
Splash.
Savor.
Experience.
Stroll.
Appreciate.
Enjoy. Be amazed at life.
Be gentle.
Thank you, my girl. You teach mommy every day.
I do know how to pay attention,
how to fall down into the grass,
how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed,
how to stroll through the fields,
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?

beautiful pics, r! i love S's dresses! they are gorgeous. isn't it neat how kids teach us to slow down and take it all in? trying to do it any other way just results in incredible frustration. at least for me. kids don't do "rushed" well. :)

Nature and children are certainly two of my biggest creative inspirations!

A lovely post! I find it such a gift that when we have children we learn to watch and listen and observe with and also like a child - we see the wonder and joy and beauty all around us. There is always so much to experience! Thank you for sharing.
