Veggie-licious

Thanks to our pal, Jennifer, we now get a weekly box of fresh, local veggies! She sent us info. on a local woman who buys bulk produce at a big farmers' market and then resells them each week. A giant box of healthy goodness costs $15.00. Now, how's that for thrifty?

You can't request what goes in your box, and each week the contents are different. It is a fun challenge each week to come up with ways to eat and use all of our fruits and veggies.

This week I let our little foodie do some exploring in our box. She loves to scream out the names of things, and she also does a little tasting...

Oh my word! That is TOO COOL!!!! We have a farmer's market here in town - I wonder if anybody sells produce like that??? I would just love the variety, and what a GREAT price for that big box!

And I have to say, Sophia is looking all little-girl now... not so much baby. When did her hair get so long, and HOW did she get so tall so fast!!!! She just gets cuter all the time Rebecca.

Great looking veggies - and getting a variety that you don't choose yourself is cool too so you don't get in a same old thing rut! Sophia looks cute in her little outfit :-)

what a great idea!!! We have been going to our local farmers market and fruit/veg stands recently as well. I didn't realize how many we actually have. We like to support our local farmers and it really is more thrifty. I also think everything tastes so much better. I love the strawberry pic of Sophia. J ate through all of the berries I just bought on thursday! so good to start them young on fruits and veg. I am shocked at how many of J's friends will not touch any fruit that I serve them - none! I'm glad my little guy eats many different fruits/veg. Then we don't feel so bad about the chocolate ;) Hope you had an awesome Mothers Day!

We got a delivery like that from a community farm one year. It was great having the fresh produce each week but sometimes was a challenge to figure out how to fix some of the veggies. Love the farmers market - we go almost weekly during the spring and summer!!

That is an amazing deal! Here in Australia we have the same thing but it costs us about $30 US for a box - and it is still a good deal (and a challenge because I have no idea what some of this stuff is) :) by the way that Sophia of yours is gorgeous!!!
