We did it. We rose to the challenge. In this post, Tymm challenged us to write on our palms what is in our hearts. So, there it is. From our team to yours. This is what is on our hearts. Of course, when we finished we realized that we didn't write "orphan". To us though, when we say serve, and compassion, our #1 focus is orphans.Over the last month or so, the song, "Albertine" by Brooke Frasher has been burning holes in our hearts. There is a line in the song that says,
"Now that I Have Seen, I am Responsible".
Well, we've seen. Now we are responsible.
We now know that there are 143 million orphans worldwide. There is a global food crisis. There are hurting and needy people in our community and all over the world. We've read a bookcase full of books about orphans, poverty and all the needs in the world. Who is responsible? Us.

The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same.
~Luke 3:11
A major source of inspiration as of late has been Amazima Ministries International. Follow the link to read the blog of a very young woman, named Katie, who is living and serving in Uganda. She is more than talk. In fact, she is 100% action. She is caring for a home full of orphans. Many children live with her and many more come to her everyday for every imaginable need. She is a shining example of Christ's love.
Pure and faultless religion is this: to look after orphans and widows in distress. ~James 1:27
It is not a suggestion. It is a charge. We are stepping up our game in several ways. It is about our community, our world and our faith. So, we have written it on our hands for the world to see. Feel free to hold us accountable by asking us what we are doing for the "least of these". We can handle it. After all, we ARE responsible.
Anybody else up for the palm challenge?

I'm so proud of you guys! My Blog is never about anything so important...
Love it. Absolutely love it.
You are spot on that we have seen it and now we must act. And God knows that too - that we know.
And you're right - it is not a suggestion - I firmly believe the bible is crystal clear on that - I am so glad you guys made this post!
I believe that your child, who's waiting for you now, either in flesh or spirit, is (already) not an orphan. The path to you and your path to her was established and each month you are brought closer together, but its already chosen that she is in your family.
I agree strongly, that we must develop a conscience awareness of reaching out to the most vulnerable and most innocent of God's creations. We give what we can to those children who will never be matched with a family. My heart goes out to those children the most. They will have to fend for themselves. They will have to believe in themselves without the encouragement of parents. They will have to survive. No child should have to survive.
great post! cool idea! thank you for sharing!
Amen sista!
Love ya~
Wonderful idea!
wonderful...and i love that you brought up accountability! i think we so often forget (or shy away from) the importance of holding each other accountable! i, too, love katie's site...what a blessing she is!
Wonderful post! Our family has been convicted to give hilariously in the past few years, but recently, we have been reminded of the Lord telling us that we must also freely give not just money and material things, but also ALL the gifts He has given us... that's why I LOVE it that one of your hands (on one finger) was written Matthew 10:7... it is my absolute favorite scripture that we, as a family, feel we are called to do... heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers.. FREELY we have received and FREELY we must give. I think this really applies to ANYTHING the Lord has given us... Time, money, compassion, anointing to pray for the sick, homes, material things, OUR salvation, passing on the Father's love to others, the list goes on. Thank you for sharing this post.. You are setting such a great example for Sophie and your family is well on your way to becoming world-changers!! You inspire me. Blessings to you!!
Great focus - I really LOVE that song. Thanks for sharing.
